Summary Via Goodread:
In the past few weeks Alexa Montgomery has had her entire world flipped upside down. She’s gone from living a semi-normal teenage life to a life full of vampires and werewolves who all expect her to deliver them from the control of an evil dictator.
Alexa is the last of her kind; a Sun Warrior, and now she has left the safety of Two Rivers to search for her mother, but she’s left her sister behind to do so, and Nelly is the one person that she was told that she must always protect. Kayden, a vampire who is Alexa’s other half, has followed her on her journey. But, secrets are about to come out, relationships will break and danger lies just up ahead. Will Alexa be able to get through all of this and make it out alive? And, will she be able to protect Nelly from danger when she is so far away?
My Review: 5 out of 5 stars
And that is how i looked when i finished this. It told me I had 14% more, but I didn’t…. O.O i DIDN’T!!! Kale – my kindle – lied to me. LIED
WARNING: This is the second to a saga, there will NOT be spoilers for this book, but there WILL be unavoidable spoilers from book one, I warned you
Alright now that i am over that, and took a few minutes to read the next few chapters in the next book I can finally write this review.
I would like to state, though this took me longer to read than most books do, I really did love it, I just had a lot of other stuff going on. Anyways moving on
Song Choice: “Murder in the City” by The Avett Brothers, “All of Me” by John Legend, “No Sound But the Wind” Editors
First thoughts: This was an awesome second book in the series as a whole, it was incredibly well paced and interesting to read. I was on the edge of my seat, and terribly torn as well for the characters. I loved how this wasn’t about how – not even just Alexa but Nelly as well, weren’t just either all good, or all bad, there was a mix, just as there is for all of us. Don’t try to lie I am sure you have been nice once in your life 😉
Thoughts on Plot: As i already mentioned extremely well paced, while the story was split this time between Nelly and Alexa, either they both had things going on, or one did and the other rested, but you never once i think will become bored. I was excited on how interesting Nelly’s story ended up being, when i was first put into her mind I was like oh shit this is going to be like a filler spot, the idea behind it I THOUGHT was going to be, just use Nelly as a suspenseful tool, like oh exciting thing is about to happen to Alexa lets change POVs, but that wasn’t the case, cause even Nelly had those times where i HAD to get back to her chapters. I don’t want to go too much into what she was doing as it was new. Though Alexa is on her way to find her mom, and along the way starts to learn a little more about herself, and her monster.
Characters:
Alexa: Awesome as she was in the first book. I mentioned this in the first thoughts but Alexa we already knew had a darker side. She was born to kill, its in her blood, but what happens when you really think about taking a life. It is easy to accept in books and movies, oh killing one person who has no name, nah big deal, they are fictional, but I am glad that HD did it in a fashion that really got you thinking about those nameless now dead characters. Alexa showed us this very well. But over all I just loved her as a character, equal parts strong without being over egoistical thinking she is the shit and she doesn’t need any help. She isn’t so proud not to admit that.
Nelly: So I like the quiet strength girls, I don’t know why but I have a major soft spot for them, not the annoying ones who don’t realize they have no strength ever but the ones who take a little longer to get there. While there were a few moments with Nelly, even I was going, excuse me what now? I really did love her, and I loved her growth in this book and she became a favorite of mine. I am really, really excited to see where everything goes.
The ending: Well i think you got a good idea of that. Cliffies are not nice. I will be continuing on if you wanted to know 😉
