My Review:

So my song choice is to represent the love between the main characters, and it is! “Let Her Go” by Passenger.

I’m on the fence about giving this a solid 4 or 3.5 so i say 3.75 is my tentative rating (This got a 4 out of 5 from me on Goodreads)

Okay so first quick thoughts: I thought it was good, a little on the vague side, i think that this could have been a lot longer and we could have expanded on the building of Derek and Sofia’s relationship. Actually really everything could have been expanded on, i think that was probably one of my biggest problems was with this book, the writing was a really nice paced so you didn’t realize you were reading say half the book until you looked what seemed like 10 minutes into it, so really Bella Forrest could have made this a 400 page book i still think it would have been that nice fast paced style. But its a short, quick read if you are looking for something like that.

Plot: So plot, well i liked the idea, and the concept. There were times i wished that she would have gotten a little more nitty and gritty. It wasn’t bad at least she wasn’t going to keep it completely violent free, because really this subject demanded some amount of violence. The villain was probably the best honestly but i thought again expanded on it. It was a build up and then it was just over so quickly and i was like 😦 oh sad. So for the 10th time it was just to short. The building of Derek and Sofia’s relationship was there yeah but i think that i would have liked to spend more individual times, had more experiences between the two other than the few moments together…if that makes any sense. Instead of the explaining what they did on a daily basis, and yes the little stuff does count, but how about showing the reader more scenes that would have brought them just that much closer, or something because i felt this book really was about the romance and not so much about the situation. A lot of stuff was introduced and i understand probably will be taken care of in the second one – yes there will be a second one, but still i was i dont know i guess expecting a lot more from this but i know i know its short there was only so much that could have been done….alright i am done with plot.

Sofia: Well huh…its rare that we get more info on the boy than we get on the girl, but yup that is how this book is set up. There are just so much in Sofia’s past that she almost references to but never expands on. Even when Derek asks her to tell him something about her past, well still nothing! i was curious about her past and the only real past stuff we get is that her mother is in the crazy house, but i mean come on what lead MC’s mother/father/some family member not in the cra-cra house? (that was meant to be a joke) Anyways but from what we do know is that she doesn’t think very highly of herself most of the time but she is unflinching brave, and compassionate. I liked her even with the lack of really knowing her. One can tell that she is loyal, and loving though. πŸ™‚

Derek: Is a bit of a cry baby. I don’t know why i feel so strongly about this because i understand his reasoning but still i can’t help but want to punch him in the face half the time and be like stop bitching and do something about it. God dammit. Man up man! Hehehehe i think of myself as funny you don’t have it, its okay. So back to Derek i can see that he has a cold side, but it comes out so very rarely because the moment he meets Sofia in her presence be is soft and loving. I guess i wanted to see the other side of him more because it would fulfill the aspect other characters are saying he is. All the other vamps so he is cold and nothing can get to him…so there is that but we know because its in his POV and Sofia’s POV that he is far from cold hearted. I mean i did like him and he was super possessive and there were moments he lost control and i was just like YESSSSS but somewhere in the middle of alot and sometimes i wanted to throttle him myself and be like seriously stop making yourself the victim and do something about it, you have the power!

Other characters, well I mentioned Lucas and he is an awesome bad guy loved him and i hope he continues to be evil! Ben is the best friend well he is okay we don’t see much of him… and the sister to Derek, Vivienne well again she isn’t in it all that much but i don’t like the cryptic ending she gives us because it was bad enough how it was going to seemingly end but that was just cruel.

So last thoughts? I liked it, i thought it was good and i thought that was really a good quick read if you are looking for a light read. I think that it has great potential to become a really good series but like i said i was not happy with the ending mostly because it wasn’t cliffhanger-y but it wasn’t satisfying. dammit i am going to say it again, it was to short. Yup i went there again. Can’t stop me because i might just do it again but the end of this review… Oh wait this is the end…It was to short! Relationships/character building was vague-ish.
