Summary Via Goodreads: “Afterlife… just some gothic nightclub where gossip is fuelled by the presence of a rich and unearthly, handsome family or Afterlife…the strange place where time seems to stand still and guests feel the presence of something more powerful held within the confines of the VIP.

Keira is new to this small, cold town and is running from a past that seems to feast on her darkest memories. She finds living with her sister away from English soil to be just the ticket to the new life she is trying desperately to find. So when the offer of a job at the infamous Gothic nightclub Afterlife comes along she thinks that lady luck has finally found her. That is until its seductively dark and forbidding owner Dominic Draven sets eyes on her. All at once she is captivated and plunged into a world she never knew existed but the deeper her obsession with Draven becomes, the harder it is to decide…should she stay and continue to work within the shadows of the supernatural or should she run from a madness she thinks may consume her?

Warning: This book is amazingly addictive, with its dark mystery, haunting horror, seductive twists and one sexy dark lord that has the reader drooling every time the name Draven appears on the page!”

My Review: So I am going to try something new this time with my review. I am going to offer you two songs that it think describe the story pretty well so here they are: I’ll Never Forget You the version by Birdy and Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying by Fall Out Boy, so you can listen to those while i tell you all about why i am giving this book a 3….out of 5

So okay. I liked it? I don’t know, I wanted to love it beyond love, but i ended up just liking it. The story took a long time for me to get into it, really it took than a little than half way through for some action to start, and when it did it quickly died off again only to be picked up for awhile die off again and pick up at the very end. Though the idea of what might be happening in the next books could be interesting i am not sure if i will continue on. This one started to lose me at about 90% a little sooner, sorry i dont have page numbers i read it on the kindle. I was really excited when action started the first time but it started to defuse and slow down again so did my interest….i stuck with it, and like i said there was more action but this story really started out slow with a lot heavier on compt. then sprinkles of paranormal, the paranormal increased more about 60% into the book. So there were twist that i didn’t really see coming but *heavy sigh* this book might spark your interest more than mine. Also there were just somethings technical that i couldn’t get over, the use of “!” like periods, and the ALL CAPING THINGS, i don’t mind it once and a while but this book over used both.

Okay characters.

So Keira has some scars from the past…only the author taunts you with this for again more than half the book without any sort of peace of what happened. there are clues to send you in one direction that i wasn’t buying…so i wanted to know the real story but again just ignore the taunts because you won’t find out until forever. So okay back to her, i liked her because you know what she is a little broken after what happened to her which is something i really like because it doesn’t seem natural otherwise…only she does complete shifts in personalities when it pleases her….. and a lot of the time when that i happened i let it slide because i wanted her to grow as a character. In the end i am not sure if she really grows so much but that doesn’t normally bother me because series take your time you’ve got it. She didn’t make or break the story for me really i didn’t mind her most times but honestly i skimmed the last 10 pages of this book and i know she does a total 360 at one point considering she is usually so shy….so yeah okay…

Dom/Draven – Draven is his last name, and i am pretty sure Keira calls him by his first name once…. in the entire book. But anyways he doesn’t show up for a very long time, don’t worry you get mentions of him, and you get to see him once or twice….so no real interactions with him for quite sometimes. Um well i usually love demanding and very somewhat controlling guys… i live for werewolves… so yeah its kinda my thing…but Draven did live up to this but near the end it started just getting a bit overdone… i am not sure how to put this but i don’t like him as much as i did and his demanding ways become more comical than hey there asshole don’t do that but i actually do love you despite it all. oh Draven Draven Draven i sort of loved him and i sort of hated him but heres the point i couldn’t take him seriously at times. :/ So again didn’t make it or break it for me really

Um Keira’s sister and her friend RJ kinda of had the same personality. I loved RJ’s brother he was funny and sweet but i knew he wouldn’t last in the book long, he disappeared at the end well actually all these characters did.

So there is sex in this book but if i have to be honest from others that i have read the sex was a little flat… the first scene was okay then others they were sort of meh…i don’t like this conversation so i am going to stop it now….

Um lets see, the end from what i read i believe was suppose to be a bit of a cliffhanger but i know the next one is out so you are safe.

I guess my last piece of advice is that this book might be your next favorite book but for me it was okay and well i am considering the next one but i really don’t know. I did want to love this but i just didn’t… it happens but it doesn’t mean it will be a bust for you i promise. well i shouldn’t promise because i am not sure….
